I was never a very emotional person.
I immediately started crying when handcuffed (the first time, 7/20). Not sobbing, just tears continually streaming down my face. Every time I went to court, the same thing. I morphed. I learned to speak through the tears and excuse myself when necessary.
If tears were heard in the psychiatric ward, all other “patients” tried to calm the crier. Any indication of emotion would be put down- Booty juice.
If anyone in your block was heard crying in jail – all the other inmates woke up and tried to find out what was wrong, which was usually followed by vicious verbal war.
Yesterday, I had an impromptu meet-up with my kids. Happy tears.
